The writer stretched to create a contrived linking of disparate ideas that was only meant to enrage readers.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12931818357536568075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8079638534681911453.post-33701216934223098452012-07-08T14:01:27.690-04:002012-07-08T14:01:27.690-04:00the department of homeland security established by...the department of homeland security established by the bush/Cheney administration for the spoken purpose of coordinating security organizations - at least that's how it was sold to the press. It seems the administration also used the new department as a tool for government intrusion into the lives of ordinary Americans...less so corporations. I clearly remember their arguments for domestic wiretaps and searches not needing judicial approval. While I don't expect the DHS to disappear overnight, I'm disappointed the Obama administration hasn't repudiated this expanded rights of government as developed by Bush/Cheney.<br />The link above to Alex somebody's web page contains an essay written by another writer. This essay mentions mentions a study that seems to have been taken out of context. The study was produced by a center formed I'm 2005 under grants from DHS and others. The center does not speak for the DHS or represent any US govt position or policy. The study just an academic report. The essay transitions from includes statements from this report and from official documents. From the quick transition from one cited source to another, I imagine that was the hope of the writer that the audience would draw quick conclusions and believe the govt was arbitrarily classifying ordinary Americans as terrorists. While I can't say the govt hasn't done that, they aren't doing it here. It's just that Alex guy reproducing a misleading essay on his website.
